A FORMER Fiji teacher, now living in Canada, has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the teaching profession in Canada.Tavua-born Kalyan Chandra was among three other retired teachers who received the award this year from the Canadian Government.
He received his teacher training at Nasinu Teachers College and served in Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.
He was also the principal of All Saints Secondary School in Labasa before he moved to Canada.
